Yeager Airport and West Virginia Paving Wins Mid-Atlantic Masterpiece Award

West Virginia International Yeager Airport (CRW) is proud to announce that its Runway 5-23 Rehabilitation Project has been honored with the prestigious Mid-Atlantic Masterpiece Award. The award was presented at the Mid-Atlantic Asphalt Expo and Conference on December 7th in Richmond, VA.
The judging committee, having assessed three nominated projects spanning the Mid-Atlantic region, commended the results achieved in the runway project at CRW. This award acknowledges the exceptional workmanship, meticulous planning, and exemplary teamwork that collectively contributed to the successful completion of the comprehensive rehabilitation project.
The project, which spanned over three years, included a 2-inch asphalt overlay of the entire runway, rehabilitation of the runway lighting system, installation of energy-efficient LED runway edge lights, electrical conductors, and runway exit sign modifications. The paving portion, conducted in just 72 hours, used 20,000 tons of asphalt. All upgrades were completed by West Virginia Paving and were overseen by Airport Design Consultants Inc (ADCI).
“We are honored to receive the Mid-Atlantic Masterpiece Award for our runway rehabilitation project. This recognition is a testament to the dedication and excellence of our team, as well as the outstanding collaboration with our partners," said Airport Director and CEO Dominique Ranieri. "The award not only celebrates the successful completion of the project but highlights our commitment to providing top-notch infrastructure for our community and beyond. We are proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing to elevate the standards of aviation excellence at CRW."
John Crane, Executive Director of the Asphalt Pavement Association of WV, who presented the award, praised the exceptional work of the teams involved. "With West Virginia Paving's exceptional workmanship, CRW can now serve passengers on the new runway for years to come. Kudos to the WV Paving team for achieving excellence under challenging conditions," said Crane. "Congratulations to CRW, WV Paving, ADCI, and the FAA for a job well done!"
ADCI also expressed their pride in being part of the project, stating, "Congratulations to CRW and the entire team on receiving this prestigious award. ADCI is honored to be a partner for this monumental project alongside West Virginia Paving, CRW, and the FAA."
This award is a testament to West Virginia International Yeager Airport's commitment to providing the best possible infrastructure for their passengers. The project, with a total cost of $25,835,890, also highlights CRW's dedication to maintaining high standards of operational excellence and safety.
