WofA Spotlight – Deanna Stull

Deanna, or Dee to her friends, has been a member of Mountaineer Contractor’s team for over 8 years. During her time, Dee has been primarily responsible for the day to day traffic control operations of their various paving projects. Dee did not come into the construction industry through traditional means. In her past life, while working as a bartender and cook, she had a regular customer that worked construction. While discussing a career that provided the benefits and retirement she was looking for, he recommended Dee join her local Labor Union.
“And the rest is history as they say. There is no time like the present to try a new career path in the construction industry. Whether you are attending college, vocational school or looking for a change in your current career, there is plenty of room for growth and opportunity in construction,” Dee said.

WofA Spotlight – Dana Cain

Dana’s journey in the asphalt industry has been shaped by both family influence and her evolving career interests. Growing up with her father, Don, who is a sales representative for Mulzer Crushed Stone, Dana was always surrounded by the world of construction and paving. However, when she started her studies at Marshall University, she wasn’t certain about her career path. It wasn’t until her senior year that she discovered her passion for Human Resources and decided to pursue it further.

WofA Spotlight – Olivia Rees

Olivia fell into the asphalt industry while still in college, and got a summer internship working in a quality control lab. She says, “I loved this job so much I immediately joined the Shelly Company full time after I graduated in 2019. During my time there I worked in construction scheduling and mainly estimating. I was fortunate to work with many crews and be exposed to many parts of the company that gave me appreciation for the industry as a whole.”

WofA Spotlight – Jodi Johnson

Jodi started at Kelly Paving, Inc in 2002 as a Flagger through the WV Laborers Apprentice Program. In 2019, She was promoted to a Foreman position as Traffic Control Supervisor. In 2023, she became a Milling Foreman. She said the main reason she got into Construction was her entire family worked in the industry. Jodi brings an enthusiastic and positive attitude to work every day. She does an excellent job uniting everyone from hired haul drivers to subcontractors to achieve the common goal and is an instrumental part in making things happen out on the road. Jodi says, “I tell everyone the only thing I would have done differently was I would have started this career sooner. I love my job!” She does an excellent job uniting everyone from hired haul drivers to subcontractors to achieve the common goal. You will never find her without a smile on her face.
